powerfuls are not to be blamed

During Anna's 13 days fast M.Ps and a section of intelligentsia raised the bogey of supremacy of the Parliament and overtly and covertly accused Anna team for trying to subvert the Parliament and lower its prestige. The accusations were rather surprising.Because if anybody has lowered the prestige of this supreme legislative body it is the political parties themselves. These political parties without any exception give people with criminals records their respective party's tickets to contest elections. Once elected in the name of compulsions coalition politics they are allotted ministerial births. Just before elections all political parties encourage defections from others with the promise of giving the defectors party's ticket in the ensuing elections. Why do the politicians in large numbers change their party affiliations with the change in the political fortune of party they once belonged to? Obviously to enjoy political power. Do they stick to fare means during their tenure? Does the prestige of central and state legislative bodies get enhanced by this kind of behaviour of political parties?
Our elected representatives commitments to the problems faced by the people or the country is evident by their presence in these bodies and the intensity of their participation in the proceedings of our legislative bodies both at the centre and the states. unfortunately, for our elected representatives and a section of intelligensia these are not problem areas. They seemed to be reassured that our legislative bodies are safe in the hands of those people who have been using political power for personal gains. But when we the common people under the leadership of a committed person like Anna Hazare demand a strong lokpal act the prestige and supermacy of our legislative bodies is adversely affected.

लेबल: ,

political parties of all hues and shades show their helplessness in accepting Anna's demand to pass Jan lokpal bill. They are unsuccessfully trying to hide behind parliamentary procedures and giving the execuses of supermacy of parliament and maintaining high parliamentary standards. What happens to the supermacy of parliament when there is no quorum and all benches are virtually empty when important matters are listed for discussion? Or whem the concerned M.P. is not present in the house to ask question during the question hour? What happens when at the drop of the hat they disrupt the house costing the exchequer crores of rupees? How all that was done to get the nuclear treaty enacted maintained high parliamentary standards? Actually it is not the supermacy of the parliament it is the security of political leaders to lead corrupt life with immunity that is at stake. that is why there in a silent unanimity to obstruct enactment of this bill by hook and by crook. This attitude of politicians reminds me of Women's Reservation Bill when there was a concensus among all male M.Ps. to somehow obstruct the enactment of the bill. Some did it overtly while others were active covertly . Surprisingly the former werer not criticized by the latter for subverting the dignity and supermacy of the parliament and its porcedures. The execuse of maintaining the supermacy of the parliament and its porcedures is being use to subvert jan lokpal bill. Unfortunately, in this unholy alliance of all political parties Women M.Ps. are siding with their male colleagues.
