There is no loss of face now!!!

At last, as per TV news Rahat Fateh Ali would be let off after paying heavy fine and written assurance that he would cooperate in further investigations and other legal formalities pertaining the case.
Rahat Fateh Ali's arrest was a personal set back to me. Like millions of Indians he was my icon too. One only wished that the arrest were due to some misunderstanding somewhere or some laxity on the part of managers of his tour in fulfilling the legal formalities.Alas! that was not the case. As the T.V. news channels revealed it was pure and simple money laundering.Another shock was administered by Mahesh Bhatt who wanted him to behave like a MAN, speak the truth and face the consequences . Thereby covertly passing aspersions on women who as per the implications of his statement are unable to speak the truth and of course unable to face the consequences of their individual actions. One remembered Mohan Dash K. Gandhi who admitted that he learnt his technique of satyagraha from his mother and other ladies he came in contact with.
How did Rahat and his friends behave? There was no condemnation. Mahesh Bhatt was apologetic but he did not condemn this practice of using one's public aura to cover up all the illegal things done by the members of so called civil society .The Pakistani Government also did not have any loss of face at its icon being caught in such a third class racket .Instead his friends in the Pakistani Government and administration started putting pressure for his release. Even the diplomatic relations between two nations were staked. These days the nations also do not loose face!!!
Not having loss of face is very common now. Earlier one saw a beaming D. Raja , Suresh KalmandI and other corrupt politicians and bureaucrats facing the media. One thought they did not feel ashamed because in the system almost everybody from top to bottom is corrupt. But what happens to those members of civil society who never tire of condemning these corrupt people? The members of civil society appearing in T.V. Channels I thought would condemn this instance of blatant money-laundering. In stead the tone was very moderate. It was being implied that this malady is quite common among artists(bollywood). This means getting caught in havala racket does not mean the loss of face .Thus it is not only the politicians who do not loose face because they are corrupt .Rahat's instance shows that corruption has seeped all layers of our society. Now people do not have loss of face because of their involvement in illegal/anti-social and socially disapproved activities. Instead if these deeds increase their economic prosperity, political and social standing they get their brand of followers too. Moreover the system fully integrates them as honoured members of civil society.
For example some years back many members of Indian cricket team were accursed of match fixing and were accordingly punished by the cricket board .But these players did not have any loss of face in civil society. One of them was given a Lok Sabha ticket by a national political party and has won election. Thus while his cricket fame helped him in getting publicity and popular support ,his misdeeds of getting involved in match fixing did diminish his chances of winning elections. To day he is popularly elected M.P. Some others could be regularly seen in the TV channels as expert cricket commentators. In short illegal and anti social activities of the people of upper echelons of society are judged purely on legal ground not on social or moral grounds. Legal grounds we all know can be manipulated by hiring the services of good lawyers.(That is why all arrested VVIPs repeatedly express their faith in the judiciary. And thanks to the lawyers they hire they invariably get acquitted ) Unfortunately the social standing of evil does now does not go down. This means the civil society does not accept any accountability from its rich and affluent members. If we want our system to be cleanse of corrupt elements it is high time the members of the civil society take firm stand and refuses to join platforms graced by these rich and affluent accused persons.
